Alcoa Corporation, founded in 1888 and headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, (formerly Alcoa Upstream Corporation until its renaming in October 2016) is a global leader in the production and sale of bauxite, alumina, and aluminum goods. Its extensive operations encompass various international markets, including the United States, Spain, Australia, Iceland, Norway, Brazil, and Canada. The company organizes its diverse business into three main divisions: Bauxite, Alumina, and Aluminum. The Bauxite segment focuses on mining this essential ore. Subsequently, the Alumina segment processes bauxite into alumina, which is then supplied to industrial chemical manufacturers. Alcoa's Aluminum division engages in smelting and casting, offering primary aluminum, often as alloy or value-added ingots, to a wide array of sectors such as transportation, construction, packaging, and wire production. Complementing these core activities, the company also operates hydroelectric power plants, generating electricity for wholesale distribution to traders, major industrial consumers, and power distribution and generation companies.
